If you give DePaul students 2,200 pancakes....
....They'll want syrup to go with them - 16 gallons to be precise.
More than 1,250 DePaul students consumed 2,200 pancakes topped with 16 gallons of syrup at the first Midnight Breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 14. Combine that with 3,200 turkey sausage links, 480 pounds of potatoes, 300 pounds of eggs, 180 pounds of ham and 30 gallons of apple juice, and you'll have an idea of just how hungry students get while studying for finals.
Student Affairs sponsored the study break in Lincoln Park's Student Center, featuring a full breakfast, stress-relieving games and prizes for exam-weary students. DePaul President A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., and his wife, Jo, dished up scrambled eggs and ham to the students, alongside Student Affairs Vice President Gene Zdziarski. In addition to Student Affairs, faculty and staff from across the university volunteered their time to help feed students at the Midnight Breakfast.
"We had a great time and were happy to provide our students with the fuel they need to get through finals," Zdziarski says.
