    Each April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month offers the university community a chance to learn more about sexual and relationship violence, as well as show support for survivors. This year, the university community is invited to participate in Take Back the Night, an event that serves as direct action aimed at sexual and relationship violence. The event will take place on April 25 in the Schmitt Academic Center.

    This morning, April 5, President A. Gabriel Esteban, Ph.D., announced the appointment of Dr. Dan Allen as vice president for the Office of Advancement, effective July 1. Allen has served as vice president for development since October 2016. The university's commitment to serve low-income, first-generation students drew Allen to DePaul, which happens to be his father's and sister's alma mater.

    DePaul Provost Marten denBoer announced today, April 5, Dr. Donald L. Opitz will serve as interim dean of the School for New Learning, effective July 1. A DePaul alumnus, Opitz started teaching adult students when he was an undergraduate and worked as a math tutor in the evenings and weekends. Today, he is a leader and scholar in adult education.
